Hello, I’m İsrafil.
Licensed Istanbul guide, author, and independent researcher of Turkish carpets, symbolism and the philosophy of art. I invite people to notice what is often overlooked: the hidden language of objects, spaces and traditions.

Motifs are words.
Patterns are sentences.
From language teacher to carpet reader.
When you teach a language, one thing becomes clear: meaning does not appear all at once. It is built step by step, from letters to words, from words to sentences and from sentences to complete texts.
After fifteen years teaching in different regions of Türkiye, İsrafil turned his focus to art and interpretation, and realised that carpets follow a similar logic. Today he approaches them not simply as decorative objects but as visual texts shaped by memory, belief and aesthetic structure.
His work brings practice and theory together, offering readers and travellers a new way of seeing.
